Hi Mike,

Maybe not directly helpful but here's the setup on my 521:

and
http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...-side1-med.jpg

It was done using a combination of 460 F250 pulleys and 5.0 pulleys.

It has power steering so I opted for a two-belt setup.

A single belt setup using the alternator to tension the belt would be a nice setup.

You may want to take a look at the 5.0 pulleys and see if they can be adapted to your needs. Probably cost a lot less plus steel pulleys are more durable! They're powder coated black and have logged over 8,000 miles with no problems.

Regards,

Tom

Wish I could help. My former ERA had serpentine pulleys in the normal places..crank, waterpump, and alternator. Looked and worked wonderful. Had lots of compliments but could not figure out what they used but I'm pretty sure they were stock Ford parts and not aftermarket. I just had them chromed.

Thankyou for the responses!, sounds like I`ll be Diggin around the wrecker this weekend for some 460/ 5Litre Pulleys. Thanks...Mike Schulz

Mike...if I remember correctly when I had mine off for chroming I did notice that the holes on the crank pulley had been massaged a little to fit but worked fine. The water pump and alternator pulley were stock.

There was a man who had done an FE serpentine belt system, and seemed interested in doing more. I sent him an email with the following questions. His response to me is below:

> 2) Lead time?
> 3) Double pulleys/double belts possible?
> 4) What unique parts are involved? Water pump... In case of problems

> 5) What is it made from? Steel? Stainless? Aluminum?

Re: serpentine system for FE

I will try to answer all your questions - first how much - don't know because I just got it built - never thought that the FE engine was being built anymore -

lead time - about a week - pulleys - 4 or 5 depending on AC or not

unique parts - short water pump with reverse impeller -

problems - don't know of any - been doing this for 11 years -

belts - common standard belt bought at Carquest.

I know nothing about this person other than what is written above. If you want to pursue it with him, his email address is given.

Good Luck

Hello Mike,

After the above post from Sizzler I thought I'd better add a PS to my note above, and it is this: my setup uses the standard rotation water pump.

If you use the backward rotation pump, the back side of the belt needs to go against the water pump pulley which is flat-surfaced instead of the small grooves that the standard rotation pump (front side of the belt) uses.

Using a standard rotation pump requires a grooved water pump pulley. That's the one I got from a 460-equipped pickup F250/350. You may even be able to find the pulleys new if you get lucky and ask the right Ford parts counter person :p

Routing of the belt when using a reverse rotation pump is different from my setup too - it looks more like the standard 5.0 setup which does use a reverse rotation pump. This is probably only an advantage if you're planning on running A/C and mebbe a smog pump

Hope this helps,

Tom
