Linkage Weber IDA 48 427 FE
Hello All,
I am having some trouble locating a diagram for the linkage set up on a IDA 48 for a 427 fe motor. I need to know how the linkage gets set up and it doesn`t seem like anybody I speak to knows how to put it together. Any help will be greatly Welcomed |
I'm far from an expert on the subject but what I've been told is best or easiest to balance the linkage is a center pivot/pull system. I used the standard 4 barrel linkage points but had to lengthen the firewall rod 3 inches for the center pull arm. Though far from ideal for you to digest I've attached the picture below for you to try to figure it out. Any of the weber groups sell the linkage rods & ends so look there first. I've found Pierce Manifolds to be the most helpful and FREE with their knowledge regarding all aspects of webers from jetting to linkage issues - ask for Doug. In return I have given all my subsequent business to them for such a wise business policy and service attitude!

As I understand it, you may want to speak with www.inglese.com also, as they have a new FE linkage that is supposedly much much better than previous designs, etc.

The above unit is the linkage set for an FE from Inglese. I believe it was around $275 but additional items also had to be bought beyond the basic system. Cheers! |

I don`t think I have the same set up as what the pic shows. My linkagae is a side pull. But I am sure this will help alot. Thanks again, Brent, I tried speaking to Ingeles and I ended up buying a Balance and adjustment book. They also mentioned the the NEW linkage setup that they are offering. With this New linkage setup you have to drill the intake. Also this is Brand new and I don`t want to be a Ginni Pig. I rather not if I don`t have to. How do you guys feel about drilling the intake manifold? |
I believe they have finished up something new over recent days that supposedly is quite an improvement for the FE's....Something to do with the 10 degree tilt and calibration improvements....
By the way, quit posting that picture all over the place...Every time I turn around that gorgous thing is staring at me. STOP IT! :) I do have a question for you Cracker...Am I seeing correctly that you have painted the valve covers? Wondering what paint type and color you used, as it looks great. I have a set of the same covers but I hate the black crinkle finish and don't have the time to polish myself.... |

The valve covers, intake & timing cover were all power coated some gun metal grey color - it looks good but I think it's too much grey!:mad: I wish I had them covered in black for contrast. I'll keep a handle on the picture trigger!:LOL: |
