FE Motor Mounts: Basic Question

Was assisting a friend on a 427 FE (oil leak) and noticed that the engine seems NOT to be totally parallel to the frame rails. Some cars have motor mounts that CAN be swapped side to side BUT, in reality, they are different side to side; that is, there is a difference between the left and right mount. Is this the case with FE motor mounts? Appreciate the help.

The FE mounts were the same right or left.

FOF,

It depends on the car you are lookin at...

but,

The original Cobra uses the same motor mount both left and right. However, the frame mounts for the frame pitch the engine 1/2 inch to the right or passenger's side of the car.

Our cars are the same.

I hope this helps.

I have run into the same issue - the engine not sitting parallel on the frame.

The holes that the mount studs go into on the frame are elongated - so what I did is loosen both mount fasteners (don't take them off completely), jack up the engine on the side that is low, spray some sort of slippery stuff between the mounts and frame and then drop the engine onto the frame.

Worked for me.

I am assuming you mean parallel in the sense of "level"?
