Timing Chain Cover (Color)

I have a FE painted black, alum heads, alum intake, alum water pump, Aviad pan painted alum.

What was the color on the Shelby SC cars for the metal timing cover.

Thanks

Gary

CS a Texan used Mauve - NOT.

Lets try this again.

Original Shelby 427 engines with the "lite weight options", did they use the Ford factory timing cover (black) or a lite weight cover? If a custom cover, what metal/finish.

Thanks

Gary

As far as I know, the timing cover was always the same color as the block.

I can't think of any FE's I've ever seen (in a car from the 'factory'), with a timing cover a different color than the block.

Of course, Shelby sells his own cast aluminum cover, with "CS" cast on the front.

Hey,
Picture of a 427 waiting to be put in a Cobra.
Look's natural aluminum to me.
Good luck,

That looks like a picture from ERA's website. I guess my only excuse is that I did say 'from the factory'. Shelby probably just ordered the aluminum timing covers as parts, and since the parts could be used on any colored block, they were delivered, and used, in their bare states by Shelby. Learn something new everyday. Here's a better color picture of a Southern Automotive FE with the au naturel aluminum timing cover installed:
