Need Help Attaching Wiring to Body
Hello Gang,
I need your advice and/or creativity with my build. I'm running the Painless harness throughout the body, as suggested by the Shell Valley build guide. The harness has the black plastic covering, typical of Painless. However, the build guide doesn't give suggestions on how to keep the harness in place and out of the way. I would like to find some type of hanger that can be permanently attached to the body. Here are the general requirements I think I need: 1) Keep the loom in place and out of harm's way. 2) Allow me to assemble/hang the harness during the build, then remove it during paint, then rehang it during final assembly. The hangers can remain in place during prep and paint. 3) I don't mind screws or bolts, but I would assume there are places (like the engine compartment) where you can't just put a screw through the hanger and into the body (for fear of damaging the body). I'm envisioning some sort of hanger that one could epoxy or 'glass to the body, with a clasp/fastener that can be opened or closed to secure the harness. I welcome your suggestions and thanks in advance. Tim |
Tim,
If you are building a car, you need this web site http://www.mcmaster.com/ Type in 1344 in the search area (this is the page number for hangers). You can get these at most hardware stores. I have an ACE nearby, and by the time I got done building my car I knew everyone in the nut-n-bolt department on a first name basis.... they even suggested I get a red shirt to match theirs! I don't have any pics of my wiring in the engine compartment, but if you shoot me an e-mail I can take some and send them. You might also look here from some ideas - http://www.uniquecobra.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=807 Good luck! |
Hi Tim,
I'm in the process of wiring my Shell Valley now with a Painless kit. I put a couple of pics in my gallery of some of the hangers that I am using. I did epoxy some brackets under the fenders in the engine compartment to hold the hangers. Hope that helps some. Sydney |
