428 FE oiling mods for racing
Need to know what needs to be modified in the oiling system of a 428 FE block. Also, any required reading that I should know about.

Get Steve Christ 'How to rebuild your big block ford' or, go to 'Fordmuscle.com and search their archives.

FE Stroker Do your self a favor and have a machinist do the important modes to the block. You can do the oil limiters to the heads but drilling out the passages go to a machinist. Find an FE machinist on the column to your left. It's worth it in the long run. my 2 cents Rick Lake

FE stroker Bill there are 2 articles on what to do with the FE oiling system. Do you have a fax machine? I didnot know your profession. It's best to go to the guy with the right tools and smarts to do the job right the first time. Rick Lake

Rick---I'm kind'a in an area where FE' s aren't worked on much, so getting any info is hard to come by. I had talked to a couple of Super Stock racers--and they gave me a # to call in MN., but the shop never called back. That's when I thought I'd give this forum a shot. You can fax any info to (920) 648-4579---that # is to a friends repair shop.
Thanks, Bill

Fe stroker Bill I am busy till after this week end. I have to find the rticles in my mag collection. It's basic work. 1/2" supply of oil from the pad mount to the center of the block. Align oil holes with the bearing holes on the mains. 100 lbs spring in the oil pump for better pressure. This one is questionable because of the wear on the distrubutor gear. You may want to go dry sump oiling for racing. Motor # 2 is going with an Aviavid system. They sell dry and wet external systems. I'm going dry sump. oil limiter in the heads. size is from .090" to .055". I have .070" in my heads and plenty of oil up stairs. Got to go Rick Lake
