Which head gasket for FE427 ?

I'm in the process of rebuilding my 427, and I'm wondering if the head gasket supplied in my FELPRO kit , gasket #8554PT would be OK to use, or should I buy the FELPRO #1020.

The 8554PT gasket looks to coated with blue color ? teflon, and has metal rim around each combustion chamber.

I think it would be OK to use, but I'd hate to use it, then have troubles with it at a later time, requiring me to replace them.

Thanks.

Anthony What's up 1020 Felpro with Hightack is what I used. The 1020 has be listed for the 427 bore for 20 years if not more. What was on the engine before? ASk your builder what he used. I would use the Hi tack with Alum heads and iron block because of the expanding rate of the different metals. Send me an email with your number I can call. What did you find on the motor. Make sure you put the gaskets on the right way. :D Rick Lake

Anthony,
The FELpro 1020 is tops for 390-427 eith iron/iron or iron/alum. Like Rick noted 20 plus years, not one blown in our camp.

The FEL-1020 is the 427 unit. I had a Felpro for a 390 and it wouldn't quite clear the chamfered edge for the 427 (tunnel port) intake valves.
