m/t intake distributor

Hey guys, since my computer has been broken i don't have a lot of time to go onto the internet, so it's been a while since i last have visited this site. I did miss your wisdom.
I have a question regarding the mickey thompson cross ram style of intake for a FE. I have heard of it needing some type of distributor adaptor, but don't know what is required to install one without having this adapter. Somebody told me you can machine a distributor to work but from pictures i have seen of these, it appears to be about 8 or 9 inches taller where the hold down is than a standard distributor.
This is more of a curiosity question than a need to know, but was just wondering. And maybe a heated discussion could arise from this thread, I appreciate any help that you can give me, thanks.

The unit needs a distributor from MT to work. There are other cross ram styles which work without the MT distributor, Edelbrock made a cross ram which worked pretty well.

Both the MT and the Edelbrock were made with forced induction in mind. You may not see a terrific value to cost ratio if you are not intending on running Paxtons or a twin turbo set up.

This intake was the first to break one hp per cubic inch on Edelbrock's dyno. 283 Chevy, normally aspirated. I've been told they are a PITA to tune; possibly do work better with forced induction, as one article stated they have "serious reversion problems", with air/fuel mix coming out the top of the carbs as they ran it on the dyno.
