FE 427 Rev range
thorconstr,
What rear end ratio are you running? I read a thread by Hal Copple he liked the 600 with 3.27 rear end, I would say that would be as high as I would go! if you run 6500rpm in fifth its 191 mph and thats not going to happen easily, but it will give a good OD gear! |
I am giving a lot of consideration to 3.27 gears. My old FE was pulling hard past 6500 RPMs but my bottom end couldn't handle the RPMs and spun a bearing. My speed at the time my engine laid down was around 160 mph and I was within a few feet of a cement wall. I don't think I will take it to that speed again unless I do some serious upgrades including a full cage. I love going fast and even faster but let's face it the protection (better yet "Lack of Protection") we have in these cars doesn't warrent super speedway speeds.
I love my Cobra but I love my family more and I would like to be around to teach my granddaughter to drive this piece of history. Clois |
