Can anyone recommend any magazine articles from the 60s that featured the 427 sideoiler? Hot Rod or similar magazines?

Adrian472 The old info is nice to read but the best thing to do is talk the the motor builder on this forum and the FE.com one. Alot has changed over 40 years. You need to firgure out what you want and build a motor for that application. Blueprint numbers are still good but a would look at the todays changes for cranks rods, coatings, and specs. The big thing will be do you build a tork motor or a HP motor. GOOD LUCK   %/ :D Rick Lake

Rick
I just wanted to find out the issue dates and numbers to start looking for any old mags with articles in, just purely to add to my collection of books and magazines. But thanks for the advice.

Mag Articles

I've collected a few off ebay.

HOT ROD June 1968, not exactly FE 427 but an article about lots of bizzare experimental engines Ford was building. The 427 Calliope, Indy DOHC, a SOHC 302, and a Hemi 429 which may have become the Boss 429 but it doesn't look the same. I don't believe any of the engines featured ever made it to production.

HOT ROD January 1965 - Full Details on Ford's Overhead Cam 427 Hemi. Nice article on the SOHC. Also Gene Windfields 427 powered Strip Star custom. He drove it to work at Monster Garage, kinda cool.

Car Craft August 1967 - Tunnel Port Heads, kind of a crappy article, also Blueprinting Ford's Street 427 Medium Riser, and a great article on the Cougar Country SOHC cougar funny car.

These are a lot of fun to read, and the ads in the vintage mags are great too. Also don't overlook the Ford publications like:

HI-PER Parts (red cover)
and
Ford High Performance (blue cover)

Both have good racing blueprint info and cobra kits info.

Chuck
