This might work for you?

Thought I would pass this along..........
The beast was not coming up to a good operating temperature and on a whim, installed a Chrysler 195 thermostat, couldn't believe the results. It maintains 195-200 even in traffic and runs great, it was 70 degrees yesterday and could have an impact on the readings. I believe the 180 thermostat I ran was opening and closing like a flapper valve, the coolant wasn't staying in the radiator long enough to cool. This could, of course, be out the window when the warmer weather arrives, wait and see?.

Forgot!, I have a double cross flow aluminum radiator, this could also account for the readings?.

Thermostats are the work of the DEVIL! I've had so many issues over the years attributed to them that whenever I have cooling issues, I ALWAYS buy a few new thermostats and try them out before doing anything else. They are like Ford ignition modules and Lucas electrics. I've had them brand new in a pan of water refusing to open well past the boiling point!

Glad that you found your demon.
