SOHC manufacters of parts

Hey guys, I am trying to put together a list of anyone who is maken SOHC parts for the FE motor. I have a couple of names that I need help getting e-mail address or phone numbers. Here are a couple I am looking for Gerald Coons, Mike Jackson( he passed away put someone may have worked with him) Earl Blazen builds cams, Joe Panech builds sprockets, Kurt Neighbors builds motors. Bob at the service center in Torrace CA builds motors. These are a few, I know there are more out there. There is a guy that is in the process of maken SOHC heads for about 2,500$ ea in aluminium. How many of you would like a sohc motor in your car all alum. The mifth about the 6' chain breaking is a little off. Talked to four 1/4 racers and they have turned 8700rpm and not lost or broken a chain. some have raced over 20 years. A guy has put 80K miles on his sohc. This is street and drag racing. He went on the power tour couple of times, in the long hauler club. Thanks for your help CC Rick Lake Ps I have Dove's number:rolleyes:

SOHC Stuff

Rick Lake,
You may realize a good source for materials and references by calling John Vermeersch of Total Performance, just outside of Detroit, MI. His association with Ford as a special projects contractor is decades old, and his FE experiences date back to the early 60's. I visited his facility about 8 years back and he showed me raw camshafts, heads, bearings and such for the Cammer.

His numbers are, or were, its been a long while since I spoke with him, 810-468-3673 and 810-468-3710.

Rick - even if the chains aren't necessarily breaking, it's hard to argue against the merits of changing to a belt drive these days.

Rick,

Give Rick Kirk a call at RK Motors here in Oklahoma. He has at least one 427 SOHC left as of last week. He also has a new set of NOS SOHC Heads and a source for someone who is making aftermarket SOHC parts, he also makes some of the parts himself. He is currently working with some of the Ford and GM race teams making speciality parts as well as some stuff for NASA.

Here is some contact info:

Hey Rick, another great source is Jim Green's Northwest Performance Lynnwood, WA. 425-774-3507. He finished restoring the ventage front engine dragster Assassin with a SOHC. It was in the Ford booth @ SEMA, looked great. Jim showed me a couple of tricks to make these engines live on the street with chains. As for chains to drive cams the GM's Northstar & Ford's Modular both use chains today.

Here's a thread.

It took a while because the search is broken, but here is a thread about current SOHC development efforts from FordFE.com

era427tp Fellow ERA brother, if you read the top I didn't forget about Dove. I just think that to wait 10 months for a single plane MR manifold and drive out there 2 times at 400 miles each way is a little MUCH. It's a Damn Shame that Earl and Jim can't got there SH$T togeather and build parts without the flood story being told over and over and over etc,%/ Jim is and engineer and Earl is a salesman. Neither one has a any idea as how to manufactor parts for production. He has new forge, CNC machines, new molds, and workers that are paid with beans and chilli. The 2nd time I was there, one of the cnc machinists didnot install a blank manifold in the hold down plate correctly and destroyed the bit and the manifold in 3 seconds. There was 5 casting in the garabage barrel to get melted back down and forged again. Can you deal with the possiablities of what the wait would be for any of the other FE parts he sells? As far as I can see, he is into building rockers for different motors, like Chevys, aluminium bodies and roller tips. It's the same old story, A ship without a capt. to steer it.:( Rick Lake
