427 hydraulic cam suggestions
Building up a street 427 Genesis. Pump fuel Edl. Alum heads, 750 demon ect. What do you guys think for a hydraulic cam. Comp cams offer a "choppy idle" dual energy cam, 2-,6000 rpm that many builders use. Your suggestions or experieces are welcome.
Thanks, Mark |
enginetime What compression are you running?? Crane has a nice cam 533-566. little lopey idle great mid range tork. Will pull to 5200 rpm 460 tork 360 hp. Pump gas with out any problem. The car with 3.31 gears will run 12.7 in the 1/4 mile stock side pipes. 501-533 crane is the one I started with, 12.9 in the 1/4 mile. smoooooth idle with a very small lope. 328hp 448 tork with a 452 motor 9.2 compression retarded the cam 4 degrees. Light the tires in 2nd gear for your friends. Strong lowend tork. Cam is done by 4800 rpm for the power band but will spin to 6000 rpm no problem but is flaten out. Good luck Mark. Get a cam that matches your intake, heads, exhaust. Bigger is not always better for the street. Rick Lake:)
