Intake I.D.
I have a '67 427 sideoiler, my question is the intake. It is a Medium rise 2 x 4 aluminum setup. The only thing I see are castings of the firing order and "FoMoCo", no part No# at all on this intake. I thought Ford had No# on everything. I am pretty sure the intake matches the engine as far as the year and all. Any body have a clue.
Thanks, Glen B. Midstates owner |
Glen can you post a picture of it? My book lists 3 Alum. Medium rise : C6AZ-9424-M Bore Diameters 1.78x2.50 Oval, Port size - Width =1.24 Height = 1.94
C8AX-9424-A Bore Dia 1.72 All, Port size - Width =1.24 Height = 1.94 C5AZ9424-G Bore Dia 1.72 All, Port size - Width =1.24 Height = 1.94 |
I posted Pic. in my gallery, I have Width @ 1 1/4"
Hight @ 1 15/16" I'm not sure what Bore Dia. I need to take? Are you talking cylinder bore, or something on the intake? What books do you have and are they worth getting. I have an old 1966 Ford repair book, but it's no good on the '67 Thanks, Glen B. |
Sorry, I had a brain fart - I know what Bore Dia. to look at!
I will have to pull the Carb, but if it's not Oval how can I tell if it's a C8AX or a C5AZ. Not that it should matter other than information. I can't see horsepower differance can I. Thanks, Glen B. |
Have you looked for a date code on the intake? Some not all have them and this might clue you in to ID it. I have a lowriser 3x2 intake the same way. Just the firing order and the Fomoco logo. No date code to speak of either. Just a thought....G.

Glen my money is on C5AZ, take off a carb and see if its a dual plane (C5AZ) or a single plane, with individual-runners. Two of my favorite books are High Performance Ford Engine Parts Interchange and Ford Performance from Cartech. http://www.cartechbooks.com/
I'm sure some of the guys here in this forum might know some that might be better but I lucked into these visiting my local bookstore. |
C5AE 9425... G maybe... Sorry my part number is polished off. It's a 1966 427 medium rise intake. It is a dual plane intake. Perhaps the best flowing intake Ford made for the street.
