Need Billet FE crank, we have them
We just got out latest shipment of Scat 4340 Billet FE cranks in. We got a total of 12 cranks in with 4 sold I believe. Most are of the 4.250 and 4.375 stroke with the 2.200 rod journal size. These are very nice cranks with the four lighting holes. I also got one real nice 4.00 stroke with a 2.100 SBC journal that someone could not pay for. This would make for a nice lighter crank with a lighter rod. Just give us a call if we can help. We also have about 4 Shelby blocks left at the moment. Do not miss the fun this summer because we can have you a very nice all aluminum engine ready in about 5 weeks. Thanks, Keith

What I really need is a 4340 forged crank, which would be more reasonable in cost. Someday they'll be available, now that the FE is getting a "second life".

I hear there are suppose to be some people working on some of these but how much cheaper they will be than the billet will depend on how much work the forging needs and wether it is an American forging or a Chinese forging. I will let you know if I hear of anything. Keith

IMHO, a billet requires an awful lot of work to produce, hence it's price. A forging has this "extra" material removed, plus you have the extra strength provided by the grain structure in a forging, especially a "non-twisted" forging such as you usually get with the 4340 alloy. For a niche market such as the FE, it'll be a Chinese forging, which will be OK if the alloy is spec'd correctly. Just some food for discussion...
