Uhh Ohh I think there's a problem.
Does anyone know if there a difference between the diameter of Fe crank pilot sizes.
I have a crank with a 1.250" diameter pilot, yet my automatic torque converter size is 1.375". I was under the impression that C4 and C6 torque converters all had 1.375" as well as the fe crank sizes of 1.375". Where does this 1.250" crank pilot come from???? I thought Fe's cranks had 1.375" diameter. I think I'm screwed.:( :( :( http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...20835crank.jpg Dave |
bushing
Dave it is most likely a press in bushing for a standard trans input shaft. I would say it comes out ,may be stuck in there if it's been there for 20 years though.
Good luck, Perry. |
I think the press in bushings are brass, that does appear to be the "real" end of his crankshaft. Guess your screwed...

Hey guys
It's only .125 of an inch. Some grease and my 20 lb hammer can make it fit. Could it be a truck crank though this crankshaft did not have the big snout and it's not forged??? Perry....There is no bushing. Excal...... Thanks for the encouraging remarks    But you're right, I think it would be brass. |
The crank does not have a bushing installed. It will press into the outer counter bore, about 2" diameter. Make another run to the parts store and your problem is over.

Seaman is correct. I just compared my 2U 390 and IUB 428 and they both look the same as yours. G.
