427 Fe

Does anyone know where I can find a 427 block? Year does not matter, but it must be a 427. My grandad raced a 1966 Fairlane with a 427 back in the 60's, and someone recently stole the engine out of it while we were on vacation. They ran thier truck through our garage door and fastened a comealong to the rafters and yanked the engine out. it looks like they even used our tools for removal! I would like to get another 427 to put back into the car. Please e-mail me if you hear of any. Thanks-the joker.

joker,
That sucks! I take it the neighbors are not near by?

Genisis makes new blocks that are priced within the same range as the used ones.

Whats up with the smile from bret a ewing, a typo I hope.

Woops..........sorry guys slip of the clicker. I actually had written something and edited it out with a face, wrong face. Emailed someone with a 427S/O to contact you but did not want to leave that info on the post.
I'll be more careful in the future.

Thought it was a bit out of character!

TheJoker21,
You have a new PM.

Tim Brewer 07-08-2005 05:03 PM

Whoa!, I can't believe they were stupid enough to do that in the garage and not just take the whole car! You do know that engine will cost anywhere between 10 and 15K. Trust me, you probably know the guys who took that engine. Not that many people know what a 427 is,(except of course all us cobra guys!). Sorry for the misfortune,
Tim

thejoker21 07-08-2005 05:14 PM

Well, I do know that the price for a 427 is high. But, I do have an original 406 tri-power that has all the original parts except for cam, gear drive, and Shelby rockers. I am seriously considering selling this engine, but have no idea what it is worth. BTW Tim Brewer, you live in Flower Mound right? I would really like to see you cobra sometime. PM me and I'll give you my #. I'm new to the area and would like to get to know some good, honest people who share my passion for cars (unlike the B*&@#$ who stole my engine.

thejoker21 07-08-2005 05:16 PM

Yeah, and what is really stupid is if the morons would have looked in the ignition, they would have seen the keys dangling. Figured no one would be stupid enough to break down my garage and steal my car (guess I was kinda wrong-they stole the engine. But then again, I was kinda right-the car is still there!)Haha.

FUNFER2 07-08-2005 05:48 PM

thejoker21-..........is this a joke !!!!! hehe!
if not, sory my friend !

Joker,

Sounds like you were visited by "dumb and dumber".

I agree with the earlier post(s). That was somebody that you know or knows your ride. They must have also known how long you would be away to spend the time to rip the motor out....not a 10 minute job.

There are a few FE blocks on EBay, but you'd better buckle up. Costs ain't what your grandpa was used to. Just search for "427 ford"

BTW, my garage is wired to an alarm system with one real loud siren. The neighbors know what to do if they hear it. Guns are not ruled out.

Good luck.

-Michael
