Hello. I recently built a 427 High-riser engine. Here are the specs.

-427 SO block .030 over
-Scat forged billet steel FE crank w/4.250 stroke
-Scat H-beam rods 6.700"
-ROSS Forged pistons w/10.25 compression
-Machined CNC Billet Steel Rocker Stands
-Ferrea 6000 series competition valves
-Erson Billet aluminum roller rockers
-Comp Cams Super Roller lifters
-Danny Bee belt drive kit
-High-rise heads. competition ported and polished. 3 angle valve
job.
-Custom Comp cam. 264/272 duration, .695/.697 lift, 110 degree LSA
-dual Barry Grant 850cfm carbs.

The problem is that I recently sold the car that the engine was built for. Now I am asking the very knowledgeable people at club cobra to help me decide what car I should put it into so that I can rip the Chevy's a new one. I was thinking either 1963 Galaxie, 1966 Fairlane or something similar. What I know for sure is that I don't want to spend any more than $10,000 and I defenitely don't want to put it in a Thunderbird or a Mustang. The engine is making 715hp and I plan on driving it on the street. There is a teenage kid down my street who has a 1969 Camaro with a 454 that is making about 500hp, and he says that my 427 SO is weak compared to his 454, HAHAHAHAHA. Please respond.

I like the 63 1/2 Galaxie fastbacks myself.

Way back, I rode in a 65 Falcon F/B with one, WOW! still think about that ride........

Go with the fairlane

I really like the '66 '67 fairlane or comet. As much as I like the looks of a '63 galaxie (and '61 starliner for that matter) you will shed almost 1000# with the fairlane. You will need to rework the shock towers for header clearance though.

I like the 63 Galaxie idea. (Of course, that's why I have one) Also, a 57 Ford would be cool too.

I second the Fairlane idea.

Back in 1966, the most rabid Ford man I ever knew showed up at the dealership I was working in with a white 66 (67?) Fairlane with a 427 in it. It was brand new with a 4 speed top loader, bench seat and the only hint it was a sleeper was the front of the hood where the Ford lettering should have been was cleverly opened to form a low profile hood scoop. The hood was glass and did have hood pins. The story had it that this was a limited edition Fairlane with only 60 ever made and that Shelby had something to do with it. I rode in this car and it was second only to the COB FIA I'd worked on a few months earlier in terms of pure power. Never forgot that car but never knew if the limited edition story was real. I didn't care after I rode in it........

I do recall that in those days, you could order a Chevy 427 in a Biscayne with no creature comforts at all. Even the carpet was optional.

What do you guys think of putting the 427 into a 1966 Fairlane with fiberglass fenders, hood, trunk lid, etc, running it with no carpet or sound deadener, a slightly narrowed 9", and a toploader. I could paint it white or candybrandywine, make it look stock, then challenge the kid down the street and laugh when he gets the pants spanked off him! Maybe even invite a few friends from Club Cobra to watch!!
