FE Engine Mounts

My engine block has 4 bolts for engine mounts. Now, which do I use...a 2 bolt or a 3 bolt?

I need the mounts that have the one stud coming out of them...

Hi Brent,
Not sure which supports are in you frame but the mounts with the stud out the bottom are: c5az 6038 c (rh) and c5az 6038 D (lh). Or perfect circle:220-1096 (rh) and 220-1797 (lh). Or you can use the fairlane mounts which are: c70z 6038 c (rh) and c70z 6038 d (lh). Now depending on how your frame is set up you might have to use the left on the right and the right on the left. My S/V frame uses a crossmember and thats why mine are installed the latter way. It works just fine. Oh, they are 3 bolt to the block. Any questions just let me know.

Byron,

My car doesn't have a crossmember. It just has tabs on the frame rails that make it universal for big block or small block applications. There are "adapters" from SV that adapt this frame tab to the mounts that bolt to the engine.

Dana is sending me a set of FE adapters....which basically bolt to these tabs and have one hole for the stud to go down into.

So I know I need an engine mount that has one stud sticking out of it.

However, the ones I find are 3 bolts....just wondering if they will work with a 4-bolt block. Know what I mean?

These are the mounts I'm looking at:

Yea, they will work. Ford never made a 4 bolt mount for the block. They made a 2 bolt that trucks and pre 65 full size cars used. The blocks had all 4 holes so they could be used in various applications. Why didn't you just get the mounts from Dana that worked with their adaptors? You do have to know which ones that S/V uses because the stud comes out in a different place on the fairlaine (c70z) mount versus the full size (c5az) mount. I would call Dana again.

Dana says the 3 bolt mounts they use are from Anchor:

Part #'s 2240 and 2241.

Let me see if I can find those on the i-net and see what they fit.

blykins 02-28-2006 06:34 PM

OK...

Those part numbers from Anchor say they fit a 66-68 Fairlane or a 68 Torino with FE's. So I guess I'm safe.

There you go !!!

I wouldn't bid higher than that.

Thanks John....That was a good price...I ended up getting the mounts there.

Now if only Discount had a NOS side oiler block, laying around to go with them :(

csx 4000 motor mounts

Okay, I bought the anchor 2240 and 2241 mounts (<$10 for both including tax). The passenger side one will bolt to the block, but the driver's side one is not even close. When I looked at cobra restorers, they are selling 2 bolt mounts. My 66 holman moody 427 mr so was a marine racing engine in a previous life. Is this why the anchor mounts won't work for me? Thanks. John(;-)

John the dr side bolt hole was moved up aprox 1/4" on the sideoiler. The original location was to close to the sideoiler oil passage running down the block and would sometimes intersect. You can elongate the lower hole in your mount to fit. Should be a easy fix.

I should have added I'm not certain if this pertains to all sideoilers or if the issue had been corrected at some point in time. Marine blocks drilled as centeroilers got the hole in the std location as any other FE block. Also in some cases the sideoiler "hump" was shaved to clear the marine mounts.

wow, thanks. I will check it out when I get a chance to look at my motor in about 1 1/2 weeks.
