427 Crankshaft Rotation
Good morning all !! I currently have a 427 crankshaft I'm working with, and wonder if anyone could shed some light on whether it's a forward or reverse rotation crankshaft. From what I'm able to find out, the only difference I think is the direction of the knurled slots (grooves ?) on the back end of the crankshaft where the oil seal contacts. The grooves are arranged similar to the configuration of a 'left hand' thread -
<<< Front of crank / -(direction of grooves) ANY help would be greatly appreciated !! Thanks, Tom |
That would appear to be a reverse rotation crank you have there if that is indeed the correct angle of the grooves. What is the casting number off the crank? I have C5JE-B and C6JE-D as cast iron reverse rotation marine cranks. The crank numbers will tell you the application.
