Ford Racing Thermostat Housing - M-8592-F390

I've gotten three housings from Summit and none have the proper recess for the thermostat to fit into so the o-ring can seal against the intake. See my post on the FE Forum http://www.network54.com/Forum/74182...sing+Revisited

So today I called the Ford Racing Tech line at 586-468-1356 (give them a call and let them know how you feel) and I asked about the FE thermostat housing. He said there are two versions out there floating around. One for the smaller t-stat and one for the larger t-stat as in diameter. He said unfortunately due to their poor design the housing will ONLY fit those OEM Ford intakes that have the recess in them. The housing will not fit any aftermarket or OEM intakes without the recess groove, period! They realize that 90%+ intakes on the market have no recess. So I asked him what is one to do in this situation, he had nothing to say. I asked him "So basically I'm F**cked!" He said "yes, sorry" I asked if they plan on doing anything about it as there are many out there for sale. He said "no"

I know these can be rigged in numerous ways to possibly work but why should we have to go through that hassle?

It's amazing how a company as big as Ford will continue to have a part produced that is incorrect and do nothing about it!

So, again. Does anyone have a thermostat housing with the NPT fitting for sale? New or old? I guess the market for these has all of sudden gone up?

Forgive my ignorance...can you use a fill tank like the older Fords & T-Birds used? These have the recess in them.

There really is no room in a Fairlane for one and I really don't like the look of the tank but thanks for the thought. I have since located a t-stat housing for my needs.

Thanks!

Not that I need one, but could you post the brand and part number in case someone else runs into the same problem?
THANKS,

Dan
