427 blows smoke
Hi my name is Guy and I have a 427 BB Ford.
I went AutoCrossing with my cobra, and I blew smoke only when I mad really tight turns. On straits and coming home never blew smoke. Guy |

uuhhhh...don't make really tight turns. sorry, had to do it. Scott |
Excess oil collecting in valve covers and being sucked past valve seals.
That's a lot better than Blowing Chunks! |

Do you have the oil feeds restricted to the rocker arms? Old FE trick to put holley carb jets(90) in the oil port under the rocker stand to restrict oil flow. You also should check the valve stem seals. |
How many miles on the engine?
What has been done to the engine? The above suggestion is probably the most correct, more so if the engine has some miles on it. |
Is it possible that you are creating a "lean" fuel condition when in the turns?
|
I have the all new aluminum 427, that just turned 5,000. miles.
like I said, it does not blow oil anyothere time only in real tight turns. In a strait line nothin. Guy:D |
Hi trularin
It is an all aluminum 427 stroked out to 468 inches, edelbrock heads, roller rockers with roller tips, eagle h beam rods scat crank, roller cam, cataon oil pan, with millidon oil pump not sure on that. Guy |
You have probably thought of this, but please bear with me. Check the clearance between the top outside edge of the rear tires and the inside of the fender lip. I know from experience that sometimes a really sharp turn at speed can cause enough lean to let the tire rub the inside of the fender. This can happen especially if the rear coilovers are adjusted so the rear ride-height is pretty low. Just a thought....good luck. Bob
