Just called NAPA and they have a 'superstat' in 192, don't know what it looks like but I'll find out this afternoon.

Thanks Perry. I think the "superstat" is the reverse poppet style. The "superstat" series is supposed to react quicker to temperature changes than the standard unit.

I bought a balanced sleeve type from Summit. It's made by Milodon, model MIL-16406 but it's a 180 degree. I don't know if they have a 195 degree.

They are made by Robert Shaw Co and repackaged by many vendors. I know Mr Gasket is one who one sells these type thermostats, in a bubble pack on a hanging card. Below is a souce for Cobra Specific applications, good luck.

I don't believe Robert Shaw makes their balanced sleeve stat to fit the larger diameter FE housing. I was wrong once before, however...

Robert Shaw does make the balanced sleeve thermostat for Mr. Gasket. It is available in 180 degrees but not 195 degrees. I was hoping someone knew of another manufacturer that made the balanced sleeve style thermostat to fit the FE engines (63mm) in 195 degrees.

That thermostat you provided the link to fits almost everything else but FE's and early Chrysler. It is smaller in diameter by about 15 mm.

You'd better tell that to Mr Gasket, because according to their listing it fits '67 - '69 FEs. All I can go by is their listing. I sincerely hope you find what you're looking for.

I know later FEs use a smaller stat, but wasn't sure what years. My intake is a Tunnel Wedge, made in '68, & takes the larger stat. Must've been caught in the middle of the change.

Hey Carnut,
I think that you should let me take that POS off of your hands for you so you can get something good. HA !!! just kidding, I had one once and could kick myself for ever letting it go.
