360 Rebuild, Oiling questions.

Im rebuilding my 1970 360. I tore the motor down and found the bearings on the #2 connecting rod were pretty bad. All the rest of the bearings showed normal wear. What would cause a conecting rod bearing to lose part of its coating. Another thing I found was the coating on the #3 cam bearing started to flake off. Possible the motor was ran out of oil? So I got the motor torn down to bare block and did some oiling impromevents. I opened up the holes on #'s 1,2, and 4 main bearing oiling holes according to where the bearing hole actually was and I opened up #'s 3 and 5 slightly. I read thats the main oiling problem with FE's. Another oiling improment I did was I opened up the opening of the oil pump hole in the block. I bought Clevite 77 rod and main bearings and cam bearings and I picked up a Melling M57 oil pump along with a new Melling oil pump shaft. What kind of pressure does the Melling M57 pump put out? Will the pressure be affected by the bigger oiling holes? Im sure the volume will be increased slightly. Rob.

You will get less oil pressure with bigger holes.

360 isn't an FE so not sure if you can go by it's oil mods

What is it then? Last time I looked the 360 used the exact same block as the 390. Bore is 4.05 but stroke 3.50.

Yes, the 360 is an FE. "Slightly bigger 390 block (4.05-inch bore) with a 352 crank (3.50-inch stroke) to achieve 360 cubic inches." Typically used in trucks.

Sorry, None of my FE books listed a 360 as an FE. My mistake.

My FE book lists it as a 361 truck engine

Does anyone have the specs on how much pressure the melling M57 oil pump puts out? Anyone have any other oil mod suggestions?
