FE Build Up

Does anyone have any experience with FE Specialities. I am looking for someone with FE experience to build up my block and I just wanted you thoughts. There is no one around where I live that I feel great about so I am going to have to send the block somewhere to at least get it cleaned, machined and the bottom end built.

Just wondering as there seems to be alot of discussion about how good Kieth is as well as gessford but not a lot of mentions to FE specialities

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Slightly off your request but Blue Oval Performance is in Colorado and is owned by Rob McQuaire. He contributes on Forum 54 Fe's and has lots of experience.
Tom at Fe Specialties has a following here and also Mike LeFevers in CA. Mike built the early Shelby alum FE's and has his own shop.
Oh and there's Barry Rabotnick in MI who made 752 HP in a 505" SO and also contributes here.

Kramer,

If you're willing to ship it, you should send it to Ron Dunlop in Chatsworth California. He has built a few great FE motors. You can reach him at 818-882-0500. Here's a recent example of his work:

Kramer,

I would be happy to discuss both Tom Lucas and KC with you. I have first hand experience with both. Please PM me if interested.

Or if you want a 6 hour drive South, Doug at Automotive Machine Service in Albuquerque knows his FE's

Tom's great!

Take a look in my photo gallery for some of Tom's handiwork!
He worked very closely with me through the entire build. Made sure I was satisfied with every detail. I couldn't be happier. There were no surprises.
If you stop by Tom's in the next week or so, you can take a look at the installation of my motor.:)

P.S. Tom's a great guy too! So is George at Gessford!

Has everyone forgotten about Gessford Machine in Hastings, Nebraska ro Keith Craft. Both do excellent work on FE engines. I think you owe it to yourself to contact either George at Gessford or Keith at Keith Craft.

I have seen both shops work and wouldn't hesitate to recommend either.

Clois, didn't you see my P.S. at the end?
I've had great experiences with both of them. I've never dealt with KC.

Kramer, read this post from a few weeks ago, it has the information you've asked for:

Check out the FE Specialties link from here on CC. His prices are posted right there, like I said "no surprises".

jdog:)
P.S.
Do some searches here, and you'll find lot's of info you might find helpful.

kramer, tom at fe just finished a 428 for me.. i'm more than happy. great customer service, and final product. the pictures are in my gallery..

Kramer 07-13-2006 07:58 PM

Thanks kmarccocco....the first thing I am going to do is check out a local person whom I have been told builds a lot of FE's in my town. At this time, I am leaning towards have Tom build it up, but I got to check out the local guy as I believe having that contact for future service will go a long way later.

I have had three motors built by George at Gessford for three cars. Each car has been driven on and off the track. While at (Fontana) more than a couple of motors were lost by others due to the high rev prolonged nature of the track. We did not have one problem and we are from CA. Hope this helps.
