backfire
My car just started back fireing (on the right side only)between shifts.Just 1or2 pops ,but its never done this before.Anyone with any ideas where I should start to look

Check header pipes and flanges for cracks or air leaks that will do it. cheers, Bryan |
I agree. Leaky exhaust headers are a common cause of this problem.

Ultra copper on the header gaskets helps a lot.

You can get a backfire from a loose plug wire, or any other cause of weak spark to one plug. Unburnt fuel ignites in the pipe on the side with the spark problem.

Be sure to check your distributor. I just had an MSD break a roll pin on the bushing above the timing gear. My car was also just backfiring on the right side.
