Well the ONLY reason I even opened this potential can of worms is in recognition that in many European countries your options for motor choice may be limited. An FE, which is ALWAYS the most desirable choice for a 427 SC type replica can get really expensive.

A Ford small block will cost considerably less and it's availability would be much better. Either engine, built right, will provide a long life and good power. In Europe and in Australia there are a wide variety of motors used for various reasons (cost, emission controls, availability, etc.). A 302 or 351 Windsor type motor can be as cost effective and durable as any GM product.

A Cobra replica was originally a FORD product, it's generally a good idea to STAY with Ford power whenever possible. Of course, a Viper V-10 or a Chrysler Hemi would be interesting! :D
