What next. Puking water
I stopped at a drive thru yesterday and when I was driving away I checked my mirror (a common habit now days) and saw a puddle where I was parked. I walked back and was relieved it wasn't oil. I left a quart of coolant where I had been idling for 5 minutes. When I got home I checked all the connections and they were tight. The only thing I can figure is it's coming out the vent hose that hangs down from the expansion tank. The water temp runs at 70C as does the oil temp. I noticed nothing abnormal on the 30 minute drive prior to this. Any suggestions as to what I need to check?

Are you absolutely sure it wasn't from a car that went through just before
you? If it was you it probably just got hot enough to vent out like you said
when you were idling - some engines heat up quickly when idling because the coolant isn't circulating fast enough to cool off. Hope that is all it was.

Where is the coolant level now...................after it cooled down?

I added a quart of water, ran the car for a couple minutes and checked the coolant level.

'cause if the system is filled to the brim and the engine is cold............the coolant is gonna go somewhere, either into an overflow or onto the ground. If you have an overflow tank, is it full already? Giving no room for expansion?

I don't have an overflow tank and I think you hit the nail on the head. When the new thermostat was installed the expansion tank was filled leaving no place for the hot collant to go but out the vent onto the ground. Thanks for all the input, guys.

Why dont you add a catch bottle to the vent hose & use a 'double seal' recovery type radiator cap so that any coolant puked out under conditions like this is pulled back into the system . Just mount the bottle reasonably high in relation to the radiator cap.
