Aluminium Bellhousing for FE
Does anybody make an Aluminium Bellhousing for an FE? Seems like a guy could loose lots of weight with one.

Bell...
As long as you go with a light on-off stlye racing triple disc clutch and a minute flywheel, you'll be fine but far from streetable.
If you want to drive on the street, don't bother and loose the weight elsewhere.

yep, a lower leg and foot amputation will definately result in a weight reduction..%/

An aluminum bellhousing is generally just a stock bellhousing. But like the others have said, stick with the steel aftermarket one. You won't notice any weight reduction and the steel is just more safe.

30 lbs worth walking??????
Big-Boss if you go over to the FEforumn the same question was just had over there. 30 lbs between a Aluminium and steel bellhousing. If you are NEVER going over 4000 rpm and the car is orginial with every OEM part go Aluminium
All my toys have lakewood bell housing. I like walking and running as compared to putting prothesis to getting around. Get SFI parts minium if nothing else. What's the price differents between Aluminium and a lakewood? %/ I saw a guy in 75-76 at E-town on a weds night blow a clutch and it removed his right leg from the calf down. pieces went everywhere, metal and human, was not pretty. Buy the lakewood and keep walking over buy an automatic trans and put a blanket over it after you may loose a leg. If you are still not sure pull up the picture od Don G. with swamprat and look at the clutch exploision. If you are worried about ground clearance you cut the bottom of the bell housing. Look in ERA for where and how to remove. You will need to center the bell housing to the crank so as not to wear out the input or pilot bushing or bearing. Rick Lake

I would also point out that people some times shove a manual into first gear while still rolling 45 MPH with the clutch in, thinking they will coast up to a light or stop sign. This can spin a clutch up to 12K or more while the engine is at idle. A lot of things can explode a clutch.

Having personally witnessed a fatal flywheel explosion, you'd be extremely
lucky to come away with just the loss of your lower limbs. In this particular
case, the car was thoroughly shredded from the firewall well back into the
passenger compartment, the driver didn't stand a chance.

I guess if he was "dead" set on an al bellhousing, he could use an explosion blanket to help in the event of a failure.
Not the safest way to go, but could help.
