...except when you buy one and the distributor hole is 1/4" off and Blue Thunder wants to kick you to the curb when asked to make it right.:(

I agree with Chipbeck

I have the same setup in my Kirkham and it is a rocket. Keith Craft does it right. As an added plus he will talk to you when you call and follows up on what he says he will do. 1st class. Wrench87, I am running the Mass Flo system on my motor and it works fantastic. I asked KC to build the engine with the Mass-Flo intake and supply the package.

Caution, either have KC supply all the parts or buy the victor intake from Mass Flo as there is some minor machining required before you install. The Victor intake for fuel injection does not have a hole for the air charge sensor. Mass Flo knows this, so does Keith Craft. Edelbrock apperently does not.

I am sorry to hear that.

I would be upset as well. How did you find out the problem?

....when I went to drop in the distributor and it wasn't even close. I ended up welding up the hole and having it fly cut on an end mill to the correct location, on my nickel.

I went with Keith on my Alum Pond 482 and it is the best decision I have ever made. i love my engine.. Rob dyno'd a few months back and it was over 615hp. It is first engine that I ever had that scares me. It is a good kind of fear..:3DSMILE:

I am curious, what is the maximum safe stroke for an original 427 SO block without clearancing the block?

RICK LAKE 05-21-2007 04:11 AM

Safe stroke

82ACAUTOCRAFT With out touching the block for any kind of clearance problems the 428 crank works fine at 3.98. With a little work in a couple of small spots, the 4.25 stroke. You will have to look at the rod end clearances. This is with BBC rods. You could maybe fit a 4.375 with some more work, but the guys don't like running over square motors. A 484 is a nice motor. What are you looking for? 600 hp or 600 of torque? I am a tork fan with a low max rpm of 62-6500 rpm. I don't like rpms in the 7,000's range. Too many large things in the block spinning at high rates of speed with alot force. This is just me. Rick L.;)

Keith stroked my original 427 block to 482. It dyno'd at 580hp with the original cast iron heads and original medium riser 2x4 intake. I am dropping it in the car this weekend so in a few weeks I hope to give a report on how fun it is to drive!
