Which Lakewood bellhousing
I am trying to find the right Lakewood bellhousing for my application. Engine is a '66 sideoiler and the transmission a TR 3550. I finally talked to someone at Lakewood and they gave me the names of co.s that make a spacer or adaptor for PN 15210 (toploader FE). D&D performance gets 159.00 plus shipping but a different input shaft is required. This can't be this difficult can it?
Thanks, John |
The Lakewood 15210 is for the FEs. If you buy it new from somewhere like Summit it should come with the block plate and hardware. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku
You could pick up one from somewhere like Ebay, right now I think there are a couple listed w/o the block plates, but you can buy the block plates separate also from someone like Summit, 15741. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...0945236&rd=1,1 and http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...2685956&rd=1,1 I think for the 3550, you need an adapter like a McLeod 8607 |
I have it behind my Pond aluminum 482" side oiler. Dimensionally your block and mine are identical. Make sure you dial it in during the install, V-E-R-Y important. Lakewood's web site has a good tech pub on the subject; they also have a good description of the bell housing under their "products" section. Mine was dead nutz on so I didn't have to mess with offset dowels and other such aggravations. Here's a pic of the assembly..

Undy, which tranny are you using?
Thanks, John |

I went with the 26 spline input shaft for more strength over the Ford 10 spline. Dave |
You didn't need a spacer/adaptor?
John |
Only if you're not running the optional short FE input shaft.
