Help Me ID Engine
Hello,
Is there someone out there who could help me ID a supposed 427 shortblock I'm looking at by using some pictures I have via email? Thanks for any assistance at all. Sam |
I am sure that I could help along with several others in the club. Why don't you post the pictures or add them to your member gallery for all to see. Any numbers you can supply will also help identify the engine. Good luck, Jim

Engine ID 427
Per Jim's suggestion I have uploaded pictures to my gallery of the potential 427 I am looking at purchasing. It is supposed to be a 1963 427 top oiler.

Yes, it's a C/O. It looks like they've possibly used a 428 crank with a hatchet counterweight.
As for the 1963 cast, the C3 on the cast number means it's a 63. Seems to be what it's supposed to be. |
I agree. It looks like a center oiler with a 428 crank. You can verify all of that my measuring the bore and getting the crank number off of the counterweight of the crank. Good luck. Jim
