Anyone running a JERICO 4-speed with a 427
Entertaining the idea of a JERICIO WC4, anyone run one?, If I decide to purchase I'll be selling two big-in big-outs.
Thanks, Perry |
Bigin/big out toploaders?
ratios/prices please? |
Is this a track car or a street car? If it's a street car, a dog gear trans is gonna be more of a pain than fun.
|
Jerico
I am going to use a WC4 in my Superformance. Already fit, prepped and shifter fabricated. Car should be completed in a few weeks. I'll let you know what it's like.

Thanks JGC...
David, I'm entertaining the idea, no decision yet... One of my top loaders has the new close ratio gear set from 'southern gear', I really like it.... |
Although it isn`t a street car, I have been running a Jerico DR4 4speed in my 428CJ powered 78 Ford Fairmont drag car. After 6 race seasons in the Fairmont, and the last 2 seasons in my NHRA Stock Eliminator Mustang, I have yet to hurt the Jerico. Both cars get the clutch dumped at 6000+RPM, with slicks, and after a visual inspection the other day, it`s going back into the Fairmont, with all it`s old guts still intact. I doubt that the drag race Jerico would be much fun after a short while on the street, but a NASCAR version would likely be less annoying. But as for durability, I certainly have no complaints!

hey perry?
how do you like your big twin in line carbs? any trouble getting that all tuned?
|
At first it was adjust-drive-adjust-drive-adjust-drive......acceleration is unbelievable, Gotta feather the gas paddle to keep the tires from spinning.
I really need to change the cam to get full potential. |
what intake are you running with those? I am seriously thinking about doing something differnt with my induction....I like the look. Where did you come up with the carbs?

You'll need to find an old edelbrock 6X2 then be prepared to do a lot of measuring, machining and welding. The inlines come up on ebay every once in a while, I bought mine from an old racer in the Atlanta area.
As far as I know, I'm the only source for complete gasket sets, 875 and 1425. |
I run a Jerico. The trans shifts best under full load...upshifting and downshifting... it is not suited to light-load gear changes. Part throttle cruising will also cause it to rattle alot. I have used it on the street but it is alot of work to get it shifted smoothly. I always figured I'd swap the trans out between track events... instead I just don't drive the car anymore.
I don't recommend it for a street driven car. Scott |
I've used Jericos in road-race cars - NASCAR Sportsmen. Don't recommend them for street cars. Putting them in first or reverse causes a gawd-awful noise. Some of the gears are straight cut and whine as a result.
They are unbelievably strong and quick-shifting, but are more similar to truck transmissions, meaning they need to be synchronized when downshifting. I would figure out a way to drive a car with one already in it before going any further. Good luck, Brian |
That's a good idea Brian, I'll check with jerico and ask who has one in the Atlanta area.
Thanks |
