Need bearing for Steel 427 crank
Hello All,
I would like to know if anyone knows what bearings are used (part# ) with the steel crank that has the wider journals and rods. Rod # C70E-6200-A and wider crank. I recall when my engine builder was building the motor he had some trouble finding the right bearings. |
i believe that is the nascar crank, i herd they dont make bearings for that any more. there was a a nos crank like this on e bay last week and he had all the bearings he was located in florida?. try to find him and see if you can get part numbers.

Wrnech87,
I did a search but was not successful. Do you know how long ago the posting was on ebay. Also I am surprised nobody has step in with part #'s. I am sure someone here has the same setup. |
Have you called any big name builders? Give Keith Craft a call and see what he says.

P here is the ebay auction for the items wrench was talking about. eBay# 25011063699 has part numbers for the original red and blue bearings and their specs. These numbers and specs are also in the Ford Muscle book. The Gessford site has these online. You can still find original bearings but you have to hunt them down or wait for a set on epay. You can modify your rods to use a std width FE bearing I've heard. So that's an alternative also. That's a really nice and rare setup. Take your time and find the right parts. Good luck.

Bearings for Nascar Crank
I had the same problem, I solved it by renotching the rods on the opposite side of the existing rod notch and using the narrow rod bearings used on a stock width crank.
The notch positioned the bearing in the middle of the rod and worked perfectly. I have run that engine on the dyno many times along with several 3 day track days as well as 20-30 autox's with no issues. The original bearings are way bigger than necessary for the HP these engines produce (not to mention too large a diameter). |
