Aviad Oil Pan Capacity - Follow Up Question

I found this post:

http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/show...l+pan+capacity

But the problem is that my oil pan was filled with 11 quarts and the dip stick marked at full. (after the engine was primed and run)

I saw the instructions on how to mark the high and low before the engine was run. But now that it has been run, how should I mark the high and low on the new dipstick I got?

Thanks!

Drain the pan, then fill it with 8 qts, and mark the stick as low. Then add another qt and mark the stick as full.

I guess that makes sense. . .

Maybe I'll let it drain overnight and then put in 8 quarts into the engine, wait a while for it to all get into the pan, then mark it and add one quart, wait a while and mark it. Then run it, let it sit and check the level . .. and if I change the filter too, fill the filter with oil, then run it and check the level. . .

sound about right?

So for each oil change, I'll only change about 9 or 10 quarts (with filter) is that about right too?

Yes unless you make a point of attempting to purposly remove the oil from oil cooler and lines. (unnecessary)
