Which Oils Weight to use

What weight oil is everyone running in the summer.

I used to have a Buick Grand National and would put 10W 30 in my motor and beat the piss out of it with out any problem.

I have also read that some people use 10W 40 and 20 W 50 in the FE 427 motors. My Engine Builder recommends 15W 50 for my motor.

Is there a simple explaination for the weights of the oil. Or a suggestion what to run in Sunny Florida.

Thanks

Grab a tall cup of Joe and pull up a chair.

I am also curious. I ran Schaeffer Racing Oil 20w 50 in my 302 HO in my Unique. A friend tested this oil along side of 2 other motors running Mobil 1. They ran all 3 motors at 6000 RPM for 20 minutes (honda racing motors) and the one with the Schaeffer ran 15 degrees cooler and held better oil pressure. This oil has a moly ingredient that becomes impregnated in the steel of the motor and supposedly assists in reducing friction. RD
