Need 391 Crank bolt, washer, pilot bearing
Anyone have an extra 391 crank bolt & washer, and 1-2 pilot bearings, or know of someone who does? I am using 391FT steel crank that is machined for FE, but still uses the FT hardware. The local Ford dealers won't even take time to look them up. The last time I used an FT crank, I had the center of the 391 pilot bearing machined out, and a roller FE bearing pressed in, since the inside diameter of the FT was too big. Thanks

I beleive it's 3/4" x 16 fine thread. ARP sells one in their Pro Series for the Hemi that fits. Mopar #245-2501 should fit fine. Maybe double check the specs on that tho to be certain.

Yep - I use the KB Hemi ARP bolt. Works fine and looks kinda cool since its a huge 12 point piece. Just get ready - they cost around $25 each.....

$25? Mere pocket change. Thats what McDonalds will charge you for a happy meal if you tell them you're working on an FE.

Thanks guys, I have one ready to go in 'my cart' at Summit. Of course while I am there, I might as well shop around some more, right? Any ideas on the 391 pilot bearing, err rather pilot bushing? Or is this just something I will have to have a competent machinist whittle out?
yeah, and what is another $25 in a pile of $XXXXX FE parts that has yet to be fully assembled...? |
Didnt realize that I have been moving this slow, been over 7 months since I got the crank bolt, that thing must weigh 5lbs. Now on to resolve the issue with the pilot bearing, that is trying to get a toploader FE sized input into the FT crank. Any ideas? I have tried to locate a bearing with a 2.047 o/d with a .6945 i/d, but no luck. Would it be better to sleeve the outside of the FE bearing, or to sleeve the inside of the FT?
