it has higher Zinc content ( not now with the new rules) since it does not have to conform to the exacting standards of pollution control as motorcar oil does. Zinc destroys catalytic converters, but is great for solid lifter cams and break in.

CI-4 has NOT been discontinued. It is still available at most truck supply houses for use in equipment that doesn't require low sulphur fuel and CJ-4 oil. What has been discontinued is the GM EOS.
