Clutch Fork Boot For Fe

HI EVERYBODY !

I have a 428 FE, with a Lakewood bellhousing and I want to install a boot to prevent junk from getting into the clutch.

SA says Lakewood doesn't make a rubber boot for the FE bellhousings, so I must make something else work or find one from another manufacture.

I know there are plenty of these bellhousings out there, so what is everyone doing to solve this problem?

The main reason I want use a boot is to keep unwanted objects (like small wrenches) from falling into that little square hole. :cool:

Anyway, If you guys have any suggetions they will be greatly appreciated.

Been there done that. Its not needed.

Maybe adapt the standard boot available from Finishline?

Standard boot will not work. I tried it. Take some rubber sheet are inner tube and cover over the hole with a slit for the fork.

I agree it probably isn't necessary to cover it, but it sure looks better and more finished than the opening with the fork sticking out of it. Just another one of the small details that separate the best cars from the nice cars.

I don't run one either, but I did see one guy that glued a flat piece of thick rubber (it was the color of a basket ball) with two slits cut in it for the fork. (could be belting of some kind). Sorry I couldn't find a picture. It looked like it worked out pretty well.

This is one of many small upgrades I will be working on. By the way..I did drop a 7/16" end wrench through that opening...How dumb is that!

I used a 68 CJ boot and reworked the hole to make it fit. Either buy filling or cutting. ground flush and repainted. Can't tell anything was done.
