Engine Storage Cradle For An Fe?
I've purchased several "cheapo" engine cradles; those little bolt together angle iron kits, for SBC or BBC motors. Summit Racing and Jegs carries them anywhere from $40-$70.
I need to store my 427 S.O. and wondered if anyone makes one? Summit has one for a 385 series but no FE. Anybody know of anything? Thanks-Dandy Don |
Go to the search function and use the word "Stumpy" as your search word/key. I have my SO on one of his stands and it is working out very well. He can also set you up for a modified version in case you use the Canton RR T pan. His prices are more than fair as well, good quality work.

You might want to give Keith Craft a call. My Pond 482 was shipped on a metal stand from them that they provided. I think it would serve your purpose well. As I recall the stand was well under $50.

Last December I bought one of Stumpy's stands for my FE with an Aviaid pan. Fits perfectly and excellent workmanship. He calls it part# "FE-W" and fits all the wider "T-pans". It was $52.

FE Stands
I have both the Robert Longo FE stand and Stumpy's FE-W (w is for wide, as in T-pan). The Longo stand is what Keith uses, I think. At least I saw some KC engines sitting on them in the store in Plano recently.
The Longo stand is light and does the job. Comes with wheels or not. Stumpy's stand is heavier, and per Lineslinger's pic above, is two legs that bolt to either engine mount location. The really cool thing about Stumpy's stand is that you can mock your bellhousing and tranny up and it is balanced for that and does not use the bell housing holes for the stand like all the four point stands. I keep Longo's FE stands in stock.
The ones with wheels. I like them 'cuz I can "roll" a block onto the bell side with them for storage. Good guy. I have not tried stump's - but they look nice... |
