Head Gaskets SPF

Hey guys just found a blown head gasket and the reason why it blew. The head bolts were not torqued right. Blew on number 3 cyclinder. I found out you dont have to pull the motor on a SPF, all you have to do is cut the motor supports loose an jack the motor up an over an put a block of wood under the motor support on the side your going to fix. Does anyone know what head gasket I need in FELPRO Gaskets. Southern Automotive built the engine. I had a bunch of loose bolts an missing bolts.

The Felpro 1020 is what you're looking for. If torqued wrong, aluminum heads can warp. Ensure the head's checked for straightness prior to reinstallation.

Bill's stands behind his work. Before you dig into it, give him a call and explain the situation. Might save some busted knuckles.

head gaskets

anyone know the intake gaskets number for a 427 medium riser in a felpro gasket.

Don't know the felpro number off the top of my head but the edelbrock gaskets were a perfect match to my Edelbrock heads and manifold.

Flip, did you talk to Bill? I ask because SA is at the top of my list if I out source my 428.

Yeah I talked to him. He said they built the motor but did not install it. I didnt blame him for the head gasket, When I saw it was leaking I should have retorqued them then. He was very friendly an said if I ever had any questions to call. What is the number for the edelbrock intake gaskets for a 427 medium riser. I want to start putting it back together this weekend.

Use the Victor Nitroseal part# 95159SG

I wouldn't run a Failpro (what Edelbrock recommends) on a Chebby.

The Nitroseal part was out of stock when I needed it so I just ordered the Edelbrock part and so far so good. Used the hi-tack adhesive and torqued it down. torqued it again after first and third heat cycle.

Where are you getting the nitroseal gaskets.

Car Quest can order them for you. That's who I've got them from in the past. There's a few performance mail order houses that handles Victor too, not remembering them off hand though.

on a side note.. I'm running KC's stage II CNC'd heads and the victor/felpro/etc gaskets are too small for the intake ports. I'm now running KC's custom intake gaskets made for his stage II FE heads. They're a perfect match. If your heads are the same/similar you might want to try a set of Keith's gaskets. I glue the head side of the gasket down with yellow gorrila snot (weather strip adhesive) and use "The Right Stuff" on the intake side.
