I have made up my mind on the TKO 600 with the .64 OD. I am trying to find information on the ford 3 speed with OD that looks like the top loader. Anyone know the ratios on the overdrive of this transmission?

diegokid Before you buy that TKO trans, Check ouy the new super street Richmond 5-spd. It has a2.87 first gear and a wide ratio with a .78 overdrive. The 3 spd with overdrive trans is not a high HP or Torque rated trans. The Richmond is 600 HP and Torque. The price is going to be about the same. IMO I think the richmond is a better engineered trans. I run a 6spd Richmond on the street works nice but I got a 3.25 first gear and never use it with a 3.31 rearend gearing. What rearend gearing are you going with?? You don't need anything or 3.00 with a 3.07 rearend. Even less with a higher gear in any cobra, unless you are doing alot of parades. Rick L.

Sometimes its just to know, thats why. I have used Richmond gear in the past but the pricing I found on the new five speed was considerbly higher than the TKO. I was planning on the 3.55 gears with the .64 or the 3.08 with the .82. This was with 295/50/15 tires.

I have a TKO 600 with .64 and 3.55 rear gears, 255/50-16 tires (25.25"). I love it. Cruise at 70 - 2100 rpms. 50 at 1500, slower than that and I shift to 4th.

The only pricing I found on the new Richmond with OD was over a thousand higher than the TKO, that didn't include a shifter. Where did you find them for about the same price?

Diegokid The Richmonds are all around 3199.00. It depends on first gear ratio. I have both a richmond 6 spd when they first came out and had no rating of power on them. Richmond then listed the power rating, 450 for both. Under NORMAL drive this trans should last 100K miles. Abuse the crap out of it and the milage goes down like anything else. I race my car and went with a G-Force 5 spd semiclutchless, price was 6 grand with shifters. The rating on it was 1000 HP and torque. It's bullet proof. The richmond is IMO the same as the old Nash trans we raced in the 80's. The TKO's are beefed up car trans missions IMO. The Richmond is engineered better. There are only 2 main shafts, the gears are wider and stronger. I have rebuilt T-5's and T-56 trans. G-Force sell updated kits for the T-56 to blueprint it for 750+HP and Torque. I think they are working on a kit for the TKO 500 & 600. You Get what you pay for. I was just giving you my opinion on trans. Fluids are also something to look at. Cobras run hot under the car and some transmissions start getting hard shifting problem on long runs. If you are going to street drive and little to no abuse, TKO-600 is fine, if racing and hard abuse, you might want to save your money and go to a better product.%/:rolleyes: IMO Rick L.

Well, the .64 is used for one other purpose I suppose, and that would be hitting a very high top speed. You will not be rev-limited should you elect to take your Cobra to Bonneville.:) Yep, just bolt on that anteater nose and head to Bonneville....

And if you do go to Bonneville ...
... don't even bother wearing a helmet, just goggles. If something goes sour at the top end of a fifth gear .64 run, a helmet is not going to help you anyway.:cool:

On the other hand...
... a helmet might let your family use an open casket at your funeral.:)
