Whoa!!!!!!!!!!!
Took her out the other day for spring warm up, on some back roads and pushing her hard, winding out in second and all a sudden she hit 7200!!.
evidently my rev limiter failed..............Whew......... |
Perry, That is a scary feeling. I hit a patch of oil once when in 2nd gear and my tach shot right off scale. Checked the Rev limiter and found out that the darn numbers on the thousand and hundred RPM dials were one off. Then had the reverse happen on the 69 Cobra. Power on the Big Block is at 6300 so it being old I set the limiter to what said it was 6000. Took it out and at about 5200 it wouldn't go any more. I wish they would mark those darn little plastic dials correctly. I had to set it at the 7K reading to get it to 6000. Ron  |
I've got the plug in chip on the MSD and haven't experienced that problem...but...now that the new engine is broken in I need to replace the 6000 rpm chip with a 6400 chip. If anyone has one that they aren't going to need and are going to the WSCB in May I'll buy it from you if you bring it. I don't necessarily want to buy a complete set for just one chip if I don't have to.
