Would someone remind me what motor finished 1st, 2nd and 3rd at the 1966 24 hours of LeMans? I can't seem to recall....................

1.710 exhausts in an Edelbrock head will scrub on a 4.070 bore. I've done it and had to fix it. Took the same measurement as above - they physically clear, but flex and movement in operation puts them into contact.
They will also work fine on a .030 over (4.160) 428 bore. I've done that and had that one on the dyno and apart for service and inspection. No sign of contact. I've never tried on a standard bore 428 - did not think many of those existed anymore....

? 0.020 over 4.05 (390), or did you mean 4.080 bore ( 390 0.030 over)
Looked at your engine on ebay. nice.

A .020 over 390 is what scrubbed. I would not be "comfy" at 4.080 either given the obvious contact. But I'd have no hesitation at 4.160 (a .030 over 428 bore...) - in part 'cuz I've already done it a few times.

Guys this has been a great thread. Brent, Barry and Keith you guys are the best. Thanks for the heads up and clearing out the BS. When I started with this question I really didn't know how I was going to proceed. I mean book reading will only take you so far in a technical subject and beyond that you really need either; cubic dollars to play with, experience, or a bud or 12 who do have the experience and don't mind sharing it. I feel like reaching into my garage frige and tossing you guys a beer!
Now I think I go back to my POS rod breaker:JEKYLHYDE and extract some small-block stomping force!:D
Thanks, Steve
