Jon,

No experience with Pro Comp but if you are going to run a points distributor I would suggest a dual points one. And if you are going to be running very high RPMs then I would go away from the points completely. On my stroker when I first had it built I ran a Mallory dual point racing one and had to change it out to a magnetic one because after a few runs, even with those expensive points, I would start to get point bounce which causes misfires at higher RPMs. After several talks with the Mallory Techs, they told me that the heat and cool cycles would make the points bounce at high RPM and that I needed to go to the magnetic one. I did and ran it for 7 years with no problems. There are others just as good and I am sure many people will be answering that have more experience with them than I do.

Jon,

I have/had the original Ford dual point in my FE. Like Ron stated too much hassel and maintenance with the dual points. I removed the points and installed a Pertronics setup. Works great and very easy to do. I recently added an MSD 6AL which had instructions for wiring it up with the Pertronics setup I have. Pretty straght forward. Now she fires up even quicker and I have the rev limiter, etc.

Good luck!

Mike

Saltshaker, I'm not familiar with Procomp, but experience says you usually get what you pay for. The Procomp is substantially cheaper than similar products of known quality. If you want to go with a solid state ignition, I just installed an MSD set up in my 428 and it runs like a striped assed ape. Just something to think about.
