Roller rockers? Edel RPM heads?

Hey, I'm gathering up FE parts, and need some advice. Does anyone know if Comp Cam roller rockers will fit under the alum Cobra Lemans covers? I've already got the Lemans covers, I'm going to use Edel RPM heads, but I haven't bought them yet. I've got a nice set of Ford OEM adj rocker arms, but I just scored a set of the blue Comp Cam roller rockers (#1046-16) on hardened shafts on ebay. Hope I can use the Comps; if not, I'll resell them.

Also, a couple of questions on the FE RPM heads. I saw a comment on some forum (this one or ??) that the Edel heads came with a oil restrictor to the top end, but others I've talked to said I need to install the restrictor.

Does everyone running the RPM heads use studs on the heads for the rocker arm bases instead of bolts?

Comments??

thanks in advance for your replies!

If you use the Comp's get end supports for the shaft's.
Should fit under the LeMan's covers. My Erson's do.
They don't come with the restictors. You need to install them.
Get the studs instead of bolts.

Ditto what Lovehmr said, the rockers, end stands and shafts from Precision Oil Pumps are very nice pieces. They do fit under the valve covers you want.

You can buy the restrictor plugs at most hardware stores, its just a NPT plug.
Some parts houses offer them already drilled.

These roller rockers with end stand studs fit just fine

Where can I view their valvetrain parts?
Their website here has only oil pump info and no pricing:

Actually all your NPT plugs, 1/16" and up is way too big. Tap the Ebok hole for a #12 NC machine screw thread. Line bore a brass #12 NC machine screw from 0.060" to 0.090", cut about a 1/4" section of the screw, slot the top of the cut section for a screw driver, clean up all the flashing and filing and crew it in the head.. Your rocker stands will keep them retained.

fyi... with a HV oil pump and Ersons (needle shaft bearings) a 0.060" works well. The needle bearnings, unlike other's bushed bearings, flow more due to the reduced oil restriction of the needle bearings. The bushed rockers seem to like a larger 0.090" restrictor due to the bushed bearing holding the oil back better. Just remember with a HV pump you'll probably want a smaller restrictor to keep from flooding the heads under your valve covers. Also remember to radius the heads' oil drain-back hole too.

Undy is straight on top of this. My machinist Stanley Morton told me the exact thing several years ago. I have not had a minutes trouble with my roller rockers or flooding the valve covers in almost 7 years of use.
Joe you will be fine but what I might suggest if you buy the edelbrock heads you buy them bare and have Stanley put the exact springs you need for whatever cam you choose. Getting all the parts to work together is a big key in endurance and performance.

Thanks to everyone!!

Thanks to all for your replies!

Clois???? posting at 5:51 a.m. on a Saturday?? Man, you are serious about this!!!

Seriously, thanks to everyone for the great info. I now have everything gathered up for my FE except for buying the Edel RPM heads and choosing a cam. I've decided to use a D4TE block (extra webbing in mains) bored to stock 428 4.13 (sonic tested out excellent), Scat 4.25 crank, Probe I-beam 6.7 rods and Probe forged slugs. Full MSD ign, Edel RPM intake, Holley carb, Edel alum water pump, Comp Cam roller rockers, Canton oil pan, etc, etc......all on ebay!!

Cam: I'm old school, leaning towards a solid flat tappet. Probably Comp Cams, and adding the nitriding treatment. I realize with the stroker that I won't turn the high RPM's the solid is capable of, I'll probably chip the MSD for 6,200 or 6,400, I just like the sound of solids. Any suggestions on grind? I'm leaning towards a 112 LSA, .580-.590 lift, and too much duration!! Gotta have the lumpy idle.

thanks guys!!
