FE Oil Filter Adapter
OK, I use a lot of books for reference mat'l (and now forums!), and I read that the C0AZ-6881-A is the BEST flowing oil filter adapter. I find a NOS C0AZ-6881-A on ebay and buy it. It arrives today; the box is labelled C0AZ-6881-A, but the actual part is clearly marked C8AE-6881-A. The C8AE ports look better than a stock FE oil adapter, but is it as good as a C0AZ?? Did I get took?
thanks in advance for your replies and sharing your knowledge!! |
you are comparing a part number to an engineering number. the COAZ-A part may have the C8AE engineering number depending on the supercession of the numbers by ford from 1960(COAZ) to 1968(C8AE ).
parts do not have a part number on them it is an engineering number there is a translation catalog to get a part number from a engineering number. i would not sweat this at all use the part. the oiling mods you do to the block at the oil filter location will give you more, than worrying about a few thousanths of an inch of material in the housing. |
Thanks!
FWB, thank you! I didn't realize the diff in part # vs. engr'g #. Ports do look good, so I'll plan on using it. And, I've made all of the mods to the oiling system on the block; main bearing saddle holes to line up with bearing hole, block to filter adapter, etc.
thanks again, Joe |
Did you open the hole up the hole in the block between the pump and adapter? That's an easy one to do.
