My Stainless steel pipes.
5 Attachment(s)
I have my stainless steel pipes are installed and are polished to a beautiful finished. I still have to polish a couple of welds but look and SOUND fantastic. I can't believe the difference in sound between the mild steel and stainless !
Much,....deeper and throatier. Sounds like a Pro-Stock lol I will include some pics here. I may,....be selling these as a "Gilmore Kit" for most cobra replicators as the primaries are 2" and extra long for a custom fit for your application. I will be selling these in the for sale section soon. I'm tickled to death with them. We made a chassis run with the old pipes and also the new SS pipes to see the difference. Through the rpm range from 2,500 to 6,000. The HP and TQ numbers varies throughout the test. It was from 12-40 gain. The impressing number was 12. My best bud with the Mustang Dyno can describe the numbers a lot better than I can. As soon as I can get his email with the dyno sheet, I'll post it. I have a new copies/scanner but I haven't red how to do it yet, need to read the information. The mufflers are the louvered style with little a SS packing just behind the muffler housing. Even my wife says it's not much louder than my old LSC cobra pipes. Going up a higher hill does sound a bit louder. I love the entire pipes. It sounds radical ! I plan on taping another Dyno run as I did not have my camcorder at this run. I have attached several photo's of my "Gilmore Kit" as we were welding and the finished product. More details to come. And send me a PM if you wish. |
More pics.

I just got my cobra and was cruisein' the sites. Did you say you can make these stainless pipes? I have a 514 ci in my Classic Roadster.

Welcome to the Cobra world !
Yes I can. As long as you have the typical header, which I'm sure you do, I make the 90 degree (or "J" tubes) extra long so you can cut & weld how you need them. You'll need to supply you own header flange. Here's a video that a friend made so you can hear the stainless and muffler sound. I left the vid uncut because the family wanted to leave in end where they so excited. You can email me for more info and photo's of the Gilmore Kit. http://www.youtube.com/user/427HISS#p/u/1/3fuuIbkJjwI (My SS kit) http://www.youtube.com/user/427HISS#p/u/3/h3XsqHrtTPY (Old pipes) cobrakev@galaxycable.net Thanks. http://i35.tinypic.com/w004fc.jpg http://i36.tinypic.com/10e3a6w.jpg http://i38.tinypic.com/98ygdc.jpg http://i38.tinypic.com/2n02bs6.jpg http://i38.tinypic.com/2rq2kbr.jpg http://i37.tinypic.com/25p7ea8.jpg |
Kevin, your pipes sound great and the workmanship looks exceptional. But please do me a favor and never do a burnout in a crowded parking lot with a kid on someone's lap ever again. It doesn't take much (a drip of oil) to make a fun moment a horrific one. I would recommend you pull down that one and replace it with something else that better markets your craftsmanship.
Good luck with selling these...I'm sure there is a market for the right price. Regards, -Dean |
Hello Dean, how are you, as it's been a while ?
How's the GT-40 ? Thanks for the praise on the pipes. I made sure, that everyone had moved way up front to get on it. As you can see, it wasn't much of a burn out. I had the mother in the car and did not want to scare her too much. These pipes are very loud when when you hit the throttle with the open mufflers so, it sounded like more, than it was. No tires smoke either. ;) |
I made a camcorder mount out of a aluminum "Mickey Thompson" connecting rod for my roll bar. I've been wanting to tape the motor with the new SS pipes but, it's been so damn cold here in Ne. :(
I'll put the video on youtube when I do get it taped. Thanks bud, Kev |
when can I order a set of your SS sidepipes?
