PCV for FE
I've been looking around for a rear breather with a PCV valve provision and though I know they exist I can't seem to find one. From Carl's and HP trends I can get a plate with a nipple then use a screw-in type valve. But I've gotta say that this look does nothing for me;

I've got mine capped off and pcv is in the valve cover.

Thanks guys but my VCs aren't set up for it. I've seen pics of a plate w/PCV valve and a short piece of tubing going right to a fitting under the carb and those are the cleanest that I've seen. So that what I'm trying to get done.

I bought a rear alum. plate from Southern Automotive (I think) that has a grommet in it and a basket underneath it with some type of wire mesh inside the basket. I assume the mesh is to stop the oil from getting sucked into the vacuum hose. The plate says dove on it.
You can get a piece of 3/8 hose with a tight, moulded 90 degree bent in it from chevrolet or possibly a well equipped auto parts store if needed. The moulded hose will not kink if you need a tight bend. |

Check with Nick (mickmate) here. www.actoncustom.com I bought mine from him and very pleased with it. .250 aluminum plate with PCV and grommet. You can even polish it for a little extra bling if you like. I did.

lovehamr,
I know you want to know something about a plate, PCV and a NIPPLE.....can't figure out where this will fit on your avitar....LOL. She is "over the top". |
I have a couple of the transitional PCV set ups for an FE, between when they adapted them and when they became a standard piece. If you need one PM me.
|
FFR, That's what I was looking for (second from the right.) Thanks.
http://www.actoncustom.com/images/al...f/100_9518.jpg Russ, you might be confusing "PCV with "PVC"......................... Steve |
Here's the one I got from George Gessford. It has a machined aluminum basket with a filter mesh under the plate. You can't beat the quality.

Rodger, that's it to, thanks.

Steve,
Found this pic in your gallery. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/s...=&ppuser=21666 Tell me about the adapters between the valve covers and the breathers. Do the valve cover openings have opposing notches? Rodger |

The each VC has 2 threaded openings (w/baffels) which you can get a couple of different caps for. In the pic you can see one solid and one with the breather. This pic shows them pretty well; http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d.../aIMG_2397.JPG You can get them set up for a PCV as well but I didn't want the hose on top of the VC anyway. I don't know what you mean by "opposing notches." Steve |

Here's the valve covers I have: http://www.dscmotorsport.com/asp/Pro...asp?PartID=988 Each has one opening for a "twist-in" breather like this: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/FM...2/?image=large I'm trying to find a straight tube adapter that will twist in the valve cover hole and let me clamp a K&N breather onto the tube: http://www.knfilters.com/images/l/62-1430.jpg The installation would appear very similar to the one in your picture. I've had no luck finding an adapter like this so far, so I may just TIG a short piece of aluminum tubing (1-1/4 or 1-3/8"OD) over the valve cover openings for the appropriate size K&N breathers. BTW, I have the PCV assembly from Gessford I posted....works great and it's a quality piece. Rodger |
I have made a couple of the mesh filled baskets to go under them too. I think I used a compressed air muffler under one of them. Also making them in steel with the tube welded on to go with the puke tanks.
|
I think this is what you're looking for. I was told this is an earlier Gessford unit.
http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...24_Medium_.JPG http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...25_Medium_.JPG The plate is a very nice cast piece with the fitting threaded into it. The bracket is for my throttle shaft. |
Just to add HP Trends www.hptrends.com sells a nice billet breather basket that drops in the intake. It's in the Misc parts section and was $50 last time I checked.
