Holley Trick Kit - useful?
I have a 347 aimed at about 7000rpm and a Holley 700dp (I believe - L47782?) on top.
On hard acceleration the engine currently stumbles at about 5200rpm so I shift at about 5k (not so much fun at the track day :o)- if I pump the accellerator it will then kick on - but I dont know for how many rpm because I wasn't sure it was a long term prospect for the engine. The generally woeful state of 'speed shops' around where my car is means that getting parts to tune something as exotic as a Holley carby is about a 1hr drive if they're open. (and they've told me they can do the jet kit for $116:JEKYLHYDE ) Consequently I'm looking at ordering a number of parts at once with a view to being able to tune the engine without undue delay caused by multiple trips to purchase the next set of Jets etc. I am considering the Holley Trick Kit because it looks like it has a lot of useful stuff (cams, power valves, squirters etc) - but I haven't found a contents list - even on the Holley web-site. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HL...3/?image=large I would really appreciate some experienced commentary on whether the trick kit and jet kit (& powervalve block off) is likely to cover the appropriate tuning possibilities. I already have the Holley DVD and vacuum gauge (only to discover that my brother has 2 vacuum gauges :() Any other tips/ suggestions or commentary would be gratefully received. Also - the whole size thing - have rec'd suggestions that a 750 would be a better choice... http://www.carcraft.com/techarticles...arb/index.html At this stage I'm not looking to change the carby - just get it running correctly and have a good base-line for comparison against the next set of carburettors :D [and if reputation is anything to go by - a fall back after propelling said 'next set into the wall] Thankyou in anticipation LoBelly |
First thing I would do is put a set of jet extensions on the secondarys. Sounds like you're uncovering the jets. You'll also need to get the fuel float made to clear the extensions.
